OVERVIEW
ESSEC Asia-Pacific's base is right here in Singapore, which is the leading ASEAN nation in venture capital and private-equity investments, and the home ground that created 12 Unicorns* to date. Singapore has been closely observed by many as a country with comparatively limited resources and yet has succeeded in establishing a vibrant and effective startup ecosystem.
According to a World Bank Report (2021) titled: The Evolution and State of Singapore’s Start-Up Ecosystem, Singapore has over 3,600 startups and nearly 200 incubators, accelerators, angel investors and intermediaries, all existing to support the seeding and growth of startups within an innovation-friendly business environment. Yet, even if the start-up infrastructure is ideal or even close to perfect in any economy, the distressing fact is that most startups (circa 90%**) eventually fail and of those which succeed, only an estimated 2 in 5 will be profitable# . Among the Top 5 reasons startups fail are due to cash and funding issues and flawed business models.

INFLUENTIAL NEGOTIATION FOR GLOBAL LEADERS
DEEPER AWARENESS AND CAPABILITIES IN CROSS-CULTURAL NEGOTIATIONS
OVERVIEW
Crafting successful business deals that deliver optimal results takes more than just being persuasive. Today’s business leaders around the world need the right skills to influence and bring the right partners together in order to navigate the complex business landscapes. Strategic negotiation is as much about the art of the deal as it is tactical play. It is also about being a masterful communicator, making connections across a broad spectrum of ideals, values, and goals
Besides, in today's global environment, cultures, economies, government policies, and markets around the globe have always interacted with and influenced each other. This is why an effective leader that produces results must have the right skills and knowledge to navigate all stages of a substantial or cross-border deal, from negotiations and deal-making to conflict-resolving after the agreement is made. However, cross-cultural communication gaps, the uniqueness of organizational politics in different countries, and diverse negotiation goals in different cultures, all pose great challenges to leaders to be effective global negotiators.
This unique program helps leaders to be successful in conducting business negotiations all around the world with people from different cultures, and in anticipating potential hurdles. The program will start by giving participants the concepts and skills of negotiation and deal-making. Then, participants will learn first-hand about the application of those frameworks and tools, and apply them in cross-cultural contexts
WHO THIS IS FOR
- General Managers looking to refresh and fine-tune their negotiation strategies and outcomes and be relevant in today’s business contexts
- Seasoned business professionals desiring to gain a deeper understanding of their personal negotiation styles, and be more effective in a cross-cultural context
- Executives seeking to up-skill and achieve better results from negotiation and deal-making, especially related to cross-border deals
WHAT YOU STAND TO GAIN
They will benefit from learning and using highly effective techniques in negotiating successful deals in complex, cross-cultural environments, and nurture their negotiation skills to become truly global negotiators.
- Develop cutting-edge negotiation strategies through hands-on simulations and immediate feedback;
- Be equipped with effective influence and persuasion skills and techniques;
- Maximize negotiation outcomes through a better understanding of individual negotiation styles;
- Increase awareness of cross-cultural negotiation complexities;
- Understand how culture impacts the negotiator’s behavior and develop operational responses in different cultural contexts.
Faculty will also conduct introductory and summary LECTURES to facilitate participants’ synthesis of the lessons learned, so that they are able to build upon the knowledge frameworks and equip themselves with fresh skills, solutions and tools for their negotiation and communication success.
